## Ant care principles Best Ants UK recommends

- Water ant nests only with mineral, distilled or purified water, never tap water or rainwater.
- Feed twice a week with protein jelly and organic honey, in the outworld only; remove leftovers after two days.
- Keep ant farms at room temperature (no higher than 26°C), away from direct sunlight, radiators, TVs and vibration.
- Hibernation is not a must, and colonies or queens should never be hibernated in their first winter.
- Avoid gel ant farms and toy-style sand ant farms; colonies moved into them often die.
- Never release ants outdoors; use the adoption and rehoming service instead.
