Our Story: 29 Years of Queen-First Engineering

Founded in 1997 by Pat, Best Ants UK was born out of a lifelong passion for entomology. Over the last nearly three decades, our team of 5 passionate ant keepers has grown into the UK's leading authority on ethical ant keeping.

Like the ants in a colony, every member of our team performs a specific task in a complex symbiosis to deliver the highest quality live ants and formicariums on the market. We raise our colonies from healthy, fertile queens, and we proudly guarantee live queen ant arrival.

Built on 317 Prototypes

We do not believe in cheap, dangerous gel nests or toxic concrete or Ytong alternatives. Every single glass and nano-resin formicarium we offer goes through a rigorous journey:

The Idea: Sketched on paper from real-world observation.
The Engineering: Advanced 3D modelling and prototyping.
The Testing: A strict testing period lasting 1.5 to 3 years.

To date, we have created and tested 317 distinct prototypes to achieve the perfect environmental conditions, now incorporating advanced heating and Bluetooth temperature control systems.
